There are many route alternatives from the base of my Condominium. Bangkok is dead flat, so there is not much hill-climbing challenge available, but the road traffic is formidable.
Tried a slightly longer route, under similar conditions, and it worked out well, too...I think Strava is a nice App.

I have had Strava on my phone/tablet for about one year. On the spur of a moment I decide to give it a try. Immediately following my usual early morning gym routine, I grab the tablet, and bike helmet, and head out the door.
Its a week day, and I am hitting busy streets in Bangkok in the middle of the morning peak traffic period! Oh well...there is rarely a low-traffic time in Bangkok. Without much thought, I decide on a circular route, on major roads that are quite familiar to me. On this occasion I am more into seeing what Strava can do than what I can do or see. The above embed from Strava shows that it can, in fact, do a lot for me...I just start the App up, hit the "record" button, throw the tablet in my shoulder bag, and ride...when I finish the ride, I pull out the tablet and Stop the recording. Strava has recorded my ride very well, and I have a rather neat map and some stats to show it. And, I am using the free version. I'll do this some more... |
About RayI love cycling, whether rolling about in Bangkok or on country lanes. Recently I have also been attracted to bike racing as a means of challenging myself as I mature into that category known as The Elderly. Categories
