In Trat, beside our bungalow, the swiftlets get free lodging in return for their very valuable saliva nests.
One receives an inspiring vista of Phnom Penh city from the window of one's hotel room.Last night we walked quite a lot, and sampled much Cambodian beer...all with the brand "Angkor".
On the Sleeper train from Bangkok to Surin with the Gang of Blokes...its the first leg of a trip into Cambodia.
Wat Dan, by the Chao Phraya river in Bangkok, not far from our condominium, is continuously renovating its site.
Right now they are having numerous, 4 metre tall, wooden Buddha icons carved on site. Here is detail of a partially carved one in the open air workshop. The Closing Ceremony for the School Grade 6 three day camp is a formal affair.
The teachers dress in quasi-military uniforms, and the kids in Scout clobber. There is standing at attention, saluting, prize-giving, National Anthem singing, Old Lang Syne singing with synchronised swaying. Its a big school...about 300 grade 6 students and 20 Grade 6 teachers. |
