Beung Boraphet swamp is near the city of Nakhon Sawan, about 3 hour's drive north of Bangkok. Once there, there are two places a boat can be hired which will take you in to the swamp where you will slack-jawed at the quantity and variety of birdlife. Here are galleries I have compiled from two trips to the swamp.
2013Pictures from a short visit to the swampy Bueng Boraphet as part of a 3 day trip to Northern Thailand, with Tim, Koen and David. The Lake is a very popular place for wading birds. We hired a boat...1000baht [US$30] for a 2.5hour excursion.
I used a Canon 7D, fitted with a 70-200mm L lens and a 1.4X teleconverter. Caricatures by Koen. |
2009A day trip, led by Rob, with friends to this swampy lake near Nakhon Sawan, about 90 minutes north of Bangkok, revealed what a unique place it is for abundant birdlife and a glimpse of a different way of life by the local fishermen. We hired a flat-bottom boat, with a driver/guide, for about 5 hours...the shutters clacked continuously.
This gallery is a selection from the approximately 700 shots I took. I used a Canon 40D, usually fitted with a 100-400mm L lens. |
