Myanmar - 2006
In 2006 Myanmar [aka Burma] was a rather closed country...not easy to get into, and not easy to move around in. Na and I spent a few days there, and I hope this page will demonstrate the place is worth putting up with inconveniences to visit.
Our main purpose was to spend time in Bagan where, we had heard, the conglomerate of Buddhist temples is as awesome as that we had experienced in the Angkor Wat region of Cambodia. As we had a few idle hours in Yangon [aka Rangoon] while awaiting the connecting flight, we also embarked on a short tour of Yangon.

A quick look at Yangon
The huge conglomerate of temples and pagodas that make up Yangon's Schwedagon Temple site is one stupendous highlight, but Yangon has many places and scenes of interest.
And then to Bagan...
a valley full of temples provides an experience that is the equal of a visit to the Angkor Wat region in Cambodia.
2014 revisit - with The BlokesHere is a page relating to a 5 day visit to Yangon and Bago.
