Indian Roller
Like many of Thailand's attractive birds, the Indian Roller is extremely human-shy.
I have been trying for several years to get decent pictures of this species...this image leaves much to be improved, but is certainly better than any shots I had until the last trip to NE Thailand (July 2013).
The Indian Roller is about the same size as a common pigeon. It is characterised by beautiful plumage, including light and dark blue wing feathers, with a few splashes of brilliant violet and deep indigo...when it leaves, as it always does, the observer is given a breath-taking display!
