There is a new, huge effigy of a revered Thai Monk in a paddock in Ang Thong province beside the main road from Bangkok to Chiang Mai.
Pictured is a smaller effigy of the same monk in a merit-making pavilion in the same complex....it has been daubed with gold-leaf. Bangkok's Lumpini Park has several gardens of Hollyhock at the moment, and these large honeybees are loving it.
Here is a 3 shot animation of one bee hovering while waiting to get into the opening bloom...there is another bee already inside. If you are interested, here is a small, but growing set of my animations. The Macaque Monkeys are friendly and accessible at Wat Khao Lad, on a large rocky outcrop called Khao Takiab at the end of a sandy beach just south of Hua Hin. There are hundreds of monkeys at this temple and, while they are very keen to receive food handouts, they are not aggressive or excessively intimidating.
Vegetarian Ladybird loves to get its snout into a bunch of Squash pollen pellets.
This hibiscus, in The Village, flowers 365 days of the year...it is a favourite snack site for many butterflies and birds.
At my first ever Airshow.
The tarmac was crowded and fearsome hot, but the show was fun! This is some of the Breitling Team coming at me. There is no shortage of Native bees in Thailand. In fact, it is likely that you will see several species competing on each kind of flower. This is one of the largest of Bees.
[Darn! This image is a neat GIF animation, but it is failing to animate!!!!] Animation here. In Thailand the seeking of white skin is an opportunity that Big Pharma is exploiting with great enthusiasm.
A 2 minute search of our bathroom revealed 4 products that demonstrate this bonanza. Actually...its not just Thailand...I have witnessed the same or even greater enthusiasm in India, China, Philippines, Vietnam... |
