This is a rather large Snout Beetle that Na found snorkling in the dirty dishes in the sink.
I fished it out and placed it on a hand-towel to soak off the water it had picked up.
On taking pics I discovered there were a number of tiny parasites hitching a ride on its legs and antennae. [Wouldn't it be fabulous to get up close enough to the parasites to discover they also had parasites clinging to their limbs...]
Within a minute the bug clicked open its wing guards and was out the window.
