Fortunately, I find Thai funerals interesting events.
I took a car load of Villagers to another village about 50 minutes drive away today. When we arrived, I was mildly surprised to discover half of our Village seemed to be in attendance...I asked Na why this was so, and the answer was interesting...
About 50 years ago the Authorities at the village of the funeral decided to make a dam and flood quite a lot of farms. They compulsorily acquired the farms and promised free replacement farms, in addition, at an underdeveloped site...which is now our Village. Na's Dad and Mum were one of the farmers involved in this resettlement.
Despite this happening so long ago, the folks in both Villages have maintained close contact, even if they are not blood related.
Thus...many folks from our Village showed up for the funeral.
