I like to snack on peanuts, either roasted in their shells or shelled, roasted with oil and then doused in salt.
Bangkok street vendors sell peanuts that have been prepared differently...they look like the peanuts in shells I am used to, but they have been steamed. Their texture is different...moist and squishy.
Being ignorant of all this, the first time I bought peanuts from a street vendor I thought I had been suckered into purchasing bad product and so I threw them away. Now that I know what is going on, I have learned to enjoy them, and snack on them quite often.
Pictured below is the local steamed peanut vendor, power-napping after her frenetic peak-hour rush...being an innovative, entrepreneurial type, she has diversified, and also offers steamed sweet potato.
